Anyone know what the deal is with their qualifying totals? They had been beyond my reach but seem to have been reduced (more than 200 lbs for my weight class, it's only 925 for a raw 181 now). Could this be an error?

Maybe, but Hoff posted that same url earlier this month which showed the higher totals... Perhaps they had a backlash against the higher ones.

Nope, both charts appeared in January 2003. As I understand it the qualifying totals thing is new for the AAU. So, I wouldn't be surprised by tweaking but a change of almost 20% is not tweaking.

I don't think that's the case as both charts I've seen had separate equipped and raw #s. The original raw numbers were around Class II on the IPF's chart but the new ones are around Class IV...

There's someone on the WTU and WDB boards who's getting around 20% (maybe a touch more) from single ply gear... Freaky...

Speaking of which, when measuring for a Z-suit, where on the legs does one measure? Largest circumference of the thigh? Also, we've been told by a few that while they are helpful with the squat, they may actually be a hinderance in the deadlift: can't get the hips down far enough for a good pull. Any comments?

I just took a look at the Titan squat suits on their website. They look promising. But judging from the testimonials, I don't think that they would make good DL suits.

Frankly, since the DL is Gary's strongest lift, I think we will probably go with a singlet for that; no suit.

Thanks again, Keith.

That's why you're the prettiest man in powerlifting.

P.S.: you gonna join the rioters in Oakland this Sunday?

You might want to look at a loose squat suit or a deadlift suit for deadlifts. I was working on doing the former at the end of my last cycle. It takes a lot of practice DLing in a suit.

We are going to try the Titan squat suit, and we'll try deadlifting in it, but I'm not that concerned if it does not work for DLs.

I would be interested in trying squat briefs for myself, albeit not for competition. Any suggestions on these?

It varies depending on the squat style and how you put the equipment on.

Or so I've heard.
