My arms and wrists and hands are so thin when I wear a watch I have to put it on with the last hole in the band. I am a 37yr old male, been on Atkins diet and slowly making some progress but my head is spinning trying to decide which exercise is the correct one for my arms. I am on a limited budget. I have a 40lb dumbell which someone said is a good starting dumbell.

Been there..

Problem number one. If you want to pack on muscle, the only 'diet' you should be on is the 'eat everything within arms reach that's not bolted to the floor' diet.

How's your bench press? Your squats? Your deadlift? Doing any dumbell rows? If you're not doing major multi-joint excercises to build up the rest of your body, then you're pretty much wasting your effort trying to build large arms. You won't grow huge arms if they only have skinny shoulders and a small chest to attach to. Your body doesn't work that way. For guys with our kind of build, you're more or less wasting your time with any kind of curl until you can do at least body weight in the bench, and more than that in the squats and deadlifts.

There are three things you need to do then. 1. Do lots of squats 2. Drink lots of milk 3. Do lots of squats.
