Hey, I am 6'4' and sit around and eat all day but only weigh 160 lbs. I cannot seem to gain weight. I have decided to start lifting weights to gain muscle mass. I am not too interested in strength, just building muscle mass. I was curious as to whether Static Contraction Training would work for me? I heard it mentioned on television yesterday. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I am not interested in creatin or any supplements.

Thanks,

Yeah, but they don't taste too good from what I've heard.

Don't think they have very good taste, either...

Hah! I can tell that you typed your message with BOTH HANDS, and your keyboard doesn't have food stuck all over it. You're simply not eating enough.

No, you really need to work your muscles through a range of motion to gain mass quickly.

do you know how to cook?

steak, mince, milk, cheese, eggs, oatmeal, vegetables, pastas, rice etc

just eat lots and lots, until you feel really full. Then eat some more. and when you feel sick, push some more in. Try liquid meals, milk, ice cream, protien powder, yogurt, all mixed up in a blender, maybe some peanut butter and some chocolate sauce, mmmmm. very easy to drink.

It looks like you maybe got 150 grams of protein in there, but I can't figure out the calories, probably quite a bit.

So let's say your breakfast was the Lucky Charms, you had two turkey sandwiches for a snack, a cheeseburger for lunch, a grilled chicken sandwich for dinner, and 7 hot wings and some cookies before bed.

Quick fixes would be to improve breakfast (did you read the 'meal' threads we just had?), and add more protein. Try drinking a gallon on milk a day on top of everything else.

What's your routine like?

In a word: no. Building mass requires the exertion of metabolic work. Although isometrics do use metabolic work, it is very difficult to work intensively with isometrics: the neuromuscular system would rather do almost anything else. Working very hard with isometrics is extremely taxing of the neural part of the system, which is why you'd need a lot of recovery to do it for long. This is where the 'every 6 days' thing comes from: it's a neural imperative, not a muscular one. Working only once every 6 days just can't build a lot of muscle, because the workload on the muscles is too low. I'd really recommend a conventional workout with weights, instead, at least twice a week.

If you're trying to gain weight, that's a very reasonable breakfast.

No. It's not. 1/8 box? 1/4 box? Ridiculous! All processed food boxes are single servings.
