This may sound like an unusual question but I'm asking anyway because you hold the knowledge I'm lacking .

As I child I was severely obese, about 30 % body fat. I held this level up until I was about 16, and moderately lowered it until right now (20 years old) where I am at about 12-13%.

The thing is, my body fat percentage, while not qualifying as lean, isn't drasticly high, and there is is very little fat over my illiac crest (i think thats what it is, hip bone etc), but they are very prominent, making me look like I have big love handles, but its actually almost all bone with skin atop of it (Stick out very far). It just looks really akward, because I have a medium frame but my illiac crest area looks like it belongs to Reggie White. Could this be because of growing up so obese?

Just be sure your brain does not function as poorly as that of Reggie White...

Don't know about obesity and bone development, but I would imagine that if you fill out a little as you get older (muscle, not fat) the prominence of your hip bones will decrease. Just be happy that you're not carrying around 30% anymore!
