Hi Everyone

Does anyone have recommendations for a good book on weight training I could purchase?

Ideally, I would like it to explain not only the exercise, but also key things about physiology, metabolism, diet for fat loss, injury precautions - basically the plethora of knowledge I'd glean from this group if I knew to whom to pay attention. (Yes, I realise there probably is no such book.) Preferably I'd like it to be technical but accessible enough for a beginner. I'm aiming to replace my entire exercise routine with structured weight-training.

I've been recommended Bill Phillips's Body for Life but I'm hesitant. Apparently the book has a glossy cover. ; )

Tudor Bompa's Serious Strength Training.

Or on the web, Krista's Site; http://www.stumptuous.com/weights.html

Or our faq; http://www.trygve.com/mfw.html

And as long as you're looking around, try the exercise descriptions at

beginner.

On second thought, scrap the part about being a beginner.

I think the second edition which includes the Metabolic Diet is better.

You are right.

For nutritional info try Susan Kleiner's 'Power Eating'. Excellent book about eating right, things like supplements are also covered.

For training I second 'Serious Strenth Training ' by Bompa, or if you are not a believer in periodization, try Brzycki's Maximize your training.

For the best illustrations on the exercises, Frederique DeLavier(sp?) 'Strength Training Anatomy'.

Go to Kingsports.com and get Ian Kings book titled Get Buffed! I kid you not it's the most informative piece of information I have ever read.Another real good one is Clarence Bass book Ripped2,I feel these are the two best. Good Luck,
