Apparently non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen, naproxen etc) reduce muscle soreness. Do they have any adverse effects on muscle growth?

Possibly a negative effect. No study I am aware of clearly demonstrates this, but the inflammatory process may be important to growth. I believe this has been discussed before on this group. Check google.
