I am trying to learn the best way to supplement my workouts. Would I be better off having a PowerBar *before* or *after* a workout? I've heard so many different opinions, I'm not sure what's right (i.e., carbs before a workout, protein afterwards for 'recovery,' etc.). Can anyone help me?
Thanx,

You're better off not having the PowerBar at all (-;
The only thing they are useful for (IMO) is an emergency food source. I keep some with me all the time so that if I'm away from home and can't make my shake, I can have a bar.
I haven't heard that many different opinions. The general consensus is high glycemic index carbs + protein after a workout. For example, dextrose+whey.
Unfortunately, most protein bars don't make very good post-workout food. They are non-liquid, and typically contain 'slow absorbtion' carbs, and in some cases, fat. I dumped protein bars recently for 2 reasons
