The core Muscles, wich are the Six Major muscles in the centre of your body are really the centre of your strengh and support.
or as Spin Diva says:
These muscles make up your power house. They assist in spinal flexion and extention, stabilization, rotation, and compression as in exhale/inhale. So basically, your power house will help you stand, get out of bed, bend, jump, breath, run, walk, push, pull, lift, eat, talk….etc…etc….etc…. you get the picture right. Strong core muscles will help you do everything you already do, better
In order for you to get the sixpack look, you not only have to work those muscles, you need to burn the fat the covers them, of course, and the only way to do that is with the correct nurtrition and a good cardio vasular work out. The strength training will take care of the rest…
So How do you strenghen your core musles?
Pilates and yoga are perfect for core training, You could either take classes (wich is my prefered method) or if you like to do things on your own, there is a wide variety of books and DVD’s that one can by or even loan from the library.
Spin Diva recomends checking out this A guide to Pilates Information and Movement for the Beginner for great pilates excersices for the beginner.
Of corse if yoga and pilates aren’t your cup of tea - you could alway resort to the cruch and sit up routine making sure you work diagnals as well.

Hey thanks for referencing my latest post. I hope to find a class that fits my schedule this summer. I loved Pilates when I did it a few years ago so I can’t wait to get into one of the other. My body was never in better shape.
