Thanks for the ego boost Yeah, maybe 'weak-ass upper body' is a little harsh. My frustration lies with how easy (relatively) it is for me to make progress on my deads and squats, while I can pound away at my chest for months and months and MAYBE add a couple pounds to my max. In the year I have been seriously reading about and training for powerlifting, I have added significantly to my squat and deadlift maxes, while my bench max has literally not gone up at all, even under the direction of some pretty experienced guys.

I have read about the Sheiko routine, but never have tried it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Eric, what sleeve length do you wear? That would be one way to gauge length of your arms. Average 15 and 1/2 neck shirt has a 33.5 inch sleeve length.

My sleeve length is about an inch and a half longer than average. I wouldn't think that would be enough to have much of an effect.

Dayum. Thats like the powerlifting mecca what with Simmons and all being there.

I'd still think seriously about the Sheiko routine. Westside doesn't work for everyone.

What if you get so fat that you only have to move the bar two inches?

(serious question)

Keith, weren't you training westside style a couple years ago? How does it compare to Shieko? If I recall correctly, you were coaching and your kids were on a westside style program, right?

Yeah, the group of guys I was working with at the gym are all Westside devotees and, while it seems to work pretty well for them, it hasn't proven all that successful for me, at least with my bench press. I did incorporate some of their stuff into my squat workouts, and that's gone much better.
